Are you doing your bit to support your team?

Are you doing your bit to support your team?

How do you support your team in business? Well, there are lots of ways and this story shows that some are more unusual than your typical WHS toolbox meeting or other incentives.

I’m not sure if you are aware… but Havencab recently sponsored our manager, Diego Canavero, who shaves his legs and rides a bike for fun…. crazy right!?

In fact, he rode his bike from Bondi to Berry 155km on the 9th of September 2017 for Alzheimers Australia… as you can see they were very successful as they raised nearly $70K!

Before the ride, Diego said “Every dollar counts… I’m $842…. if I get $1000 I will ride back to Bondi the very next day …. if I crack the $2000 I will ride back the hard way…. very hilly!!!”
He is on Facebook as Dee Vero or Cheeky Velosport Randwick …. D says “feel free to follow me if you’re interested to see me suffer in other rides! ??”

Here is Diego’s version of what happened on the day
“the start was freezing at bondi… but once we got going it was unbelievable.
We had 20 guys in our group with two ride captains plus we had a support car front and back!

First stop was Stanwell tops for a quick pic and some banana bread. Second stop at Wollongong for the same and the last stop before our final destination was Kiama where we were met by the Mayor and another council member, plus some local buskers who sang to us while we re fuelled.
We reached $70 raised with 60 riders and about 20 volunteers.
We did end up riding back… how ever it was not the hard way, but it definitely was not the easy way. I clocked up over two days a total of 337 km and climbed 3,325 metres.
It was an amazing experience and I would like to thank everyone who got behind me and helped raise funds and awareness.
Thank you x “
Well done to everyone involved … you were very successful and it sure looked like you had fun!!!
If you support your team in their endeavours in raising money for charity this can be a compelling team building exercise for your workplace, bringing coworkers together to look beyond themselves to support their workmate and a good cause.
